Distribution Plan

For my distribution plan I will be creating a website. This method is very beneficial to those who aren't able to access a physical copy of the magazine. The website will provide easy access to articles that are published by Sota Sports and it will also require a subscription fee. You would also be able to do a free month trial to see if you like the content that is being provided. In order to create publicity for the website it will be promoted through a sports event. The event will be for those who are interested in the specific sport that is being featured in the magazine. For my article it may be something like a cheer leading convention. Overall, this would draw more people to read the magazine and become interested in our product.

Digital Distribution - Baseball Digest

For digital distribution, another example that I found was with Baseball Digest. This magazine has some of their articles online and it gives you the option to download them as a PDF. These PDF's can be sent out to peoples emails and it can also be found on a website. This method is beneficial to both the distributor and the reader because PDF's are easy to distribute and also easy to access. This method would be beneficial to Sota Sports because when the article is downloaded, it can be accessed at the readers convenience. This was they can read it whenever they would like. The PDF can be access on mobile devices such as phones and computers.

Digital Distribution - World Soccer

For digital distribution, another example that I found was from World Soccer. They provides their magazine on a website. This is easily accessible and helps to increase the popularity of the magazine. If the reader is reading and they are interested in the article, them may want to read more. Conveniently, all they have to do is tap their screen to access more.  However, in order to make a profit, they have made it where you have to pay to gain access to all the different articles. The method of publishing issues and articles on the website is very smart and helps the company to gain more publicity since it is so easy to access. This is why I would also create a website. Along with this, charging a small amount for the audience to access these articles would help to profit from the business.

Digital Distribution - ESPN The Magazine

For digital distribution, I found an example with ESPN The Magazine. This magazine has provided an app. This app serves many purposes. This includes attracting and interacting with more readers. This also gives the company more publicity if it is more well known by its specific target audience, leading to betters distribution of the product. Within the app, you are able to view issues that the magazine has posted. You can also receive notification that will alert you when a new article has been published. This method is very convenient for the readers and allows them to have easy access to the magazine at any time they would like. For Sota Sports, making an app would be very beneficial for the distribution of the magazine. This makes it much more convenient for the audience to read the articles. It also would attract more people within the target audience, increasing the chances that they will read these articles being published on the app.

Traditional Distribution

For a magazine, the traditional distribution model would be to distribute their product at certain events. These event and locations will have a very similar target audience, this is in order to insure that people will be interested in the magazine being sold. For my magazine, this would mainly include sporting events or even places that athletes often go to. Since each magazine is centered around a specific sport, then the events will also be centered around the sport. This increases the chances of people buying the magazine. My event would be involving cheer leading.

Audience Engagement Research - Sports Illustrated

Both Sota Sports and Sports Illustrated have similar target audiences. They are targeting people that are interested in sports. They both dedicate specific issues to a certain sport instead of just focusing on one. This attracts multiple different types of people within the interest of sports. A way that Sports Illustrated markets their products is by providing a subscription process. People Interested will want to do this in order to get all the new and current articles that they are interested in. They offer special discount to to help attract more people and promote business. For Sota Sports, I would also use this technique of special offers. Everyone loves a good deal and especially on top of something that the audience is already interested in. That would attract a lot of people.

Audience Engagement Research - Golf Digest

Sota Sports and Golf Digest both have the target audience of athletes. The major difference between the two is that Golf Digest is targeting older individuals. All the photos being featured on the magazines are of older men playing golf. Both however are writing sports articles and focusing on a specific interest. One way that Golf Digest markets their product is through a subscription. When buying the subscription they also offer a free gift. This is is very good marketing, people love free items and this will increase their chances of buying the product. This will also lead to more distribution of their product. With my magazine, I would want to offer a subscription because it makes it easier and also more convenient for the target audience. They don't have to worry about buying a new issue every time it comes out. All they would have to do is pay the yearly fee and the new issues are sent directly to them.

Audience Engagement Research - Women's Running Magazine

The Women's Running Magazine is very similar to Sota Sports regarding the target audience. It targets female athletes. More specifically in this magazine it is attracting female runners or people that may be interested in running. Our magazine also focuses on specific sports for women. Each series is a different sport. This helps the magazine to attract a variety of female athletes that enjoy sports. When you go to the Women's Running Magazine website, at the very bottom of the page there are a few icons that are displayed. When clicked, these icons will bring you directly to their social media account, and there are multiple. These include Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter. This allows them to reach out and attract many different people with similar interests that their magazine will provide for them. Marketing Plan

Based on my research, I plan to market my product through social media outlets. These include apps like Instagram and twitter. They will have business accounts, therefore the posts will be able to pop up on people's feed as advertising for the magazine. Our group has already made an Instagram account called "Sota Sports Magazine". On this account we could post previews to new article that will be published. This will keep the readers excited to see what is coming out next. 

Indesign Class Activity

Today in class we utilized Adobe Indesign to lay out out two page spread. My experience using this program was a little bit overwhelming and confusing. There are so many tools and options to use when editing and sometime I will forget where the tool is that I need or what a tool is. After some time i was able to figure it out. I will use Indesign to make the revisions because it gives you many more editing options. This program is also used by professionals when they are creating things like this. Also, by using this program, the quality of my magazine will be much better than if I used publisher.
