The "Sota Sports" magazine is based off the sports at Sarasota High School, more specifically the girls sports. The photos I have chosen to use in my magazine issue portray what it is that the cheerleaders do throughout the season and the smiles that the girls have on their faces while doing it. With my group, we have discussed that our individual issues use photos that go with the articles, and they also follow the conventions of a typical sports magazine. Other than school, we were able to communicate our ideas through a group chat that we made on Snapchat. We discuss and questions or concerns that we had about the magazine. We need to be able to collaborate because some of the qualities within each issue are the same of very similar.

Each of the photos that were taken and put into this magazine help to represent the cheer team. They show what the cheerleaders do, what it is like to be apart of the team, and all the fun times that they have. The article title, "Sailor Spirit" is portraying what the sailor cheerleaders are able to give to the school. Their high spirits and positive attitudes are spread to others and they are cheering their teams to victory. The text and the pictures are nice and evenly spread out. On the second page, I wanted there to be some variety so I put two of the pictures next to each other and then one at the bottom. This way it is still spread out but just a little bit different format wise. The background ties the article to the school color. The orange is a nice accent and pop of color. The Sports Illustrated magazines, is what our group used as inspiration and we based parts of our magazine of of this. All of the issues had a different person on the cover, and it was someone that was being featured. Each person in our group had interviewed a person and that was who was being featured. Also, there was an Editor's Letter in each of the issues and that is something that each of us had put into our flat plan. They had the cover page and then they put a few pages of ads in before the table of contents. We used these few things and formatted them similarly in our own magazines. 

Both of the interviews with Coach Mav and Emma Hutchinson are completed. Coach Mav talked about the amazing memories that she has had to chance to make with all the girls each and every year. She has spent many years coaching and says that she coaches in order to make a positive impact in people's lives. One of the things she said was, "My favorite part about coaching at SHS is the memories I get to make with the girls." Emma Hutchinson talked about the responsibilities of the captain. She explains that it is not just about leading the teams, but also making a good example. The captain should be able to always maintain a good attitude and even be a role model for others. One of the things that she said was “The responsibility of a team captain is not only to lead to team to do the right thing but to also be a role model for others.”

I chose to uses these photos because they are able to accurately show where I will be doing my photo shoot at. I will be shooting in the SHS gym. This is because I will be able to capture unique moments of the cheerleaders as the are cheering for a game. I will be able to get pictures of them stunting in this environment. I will also be able to capture some of their other actions, that are able to portray their school pride, high energy and spirits throughout the game. Also, the gym is filled with the school colors, giving the photos a nice pop of color. The gym is well lit, and the quality of the photos are expected to turn out very good.

The articles that will be listed on the table of contents will only be the major ones. They will be focused on the cheer leading topic. More specifically I will include the interviews that I did and more in depth articles about cheering at Sarasota High School. The font is simple and easy to read and it is called Constantia. This font won't take away from any of the other information being presented. It also contrasts the background very nicely.  There will most likely only be one or two pictures included on this page, so that it doesn't take away from the information too much. They will be placed on the right side of the page where there is nothing being written.

The other sections that I have included into the flat plan still revolve around sports at Sarasota High School. Some other topics that are mentioned includes nutrition, exercising, health, and some other sports at SHS. The ad placement is similar to on of the "Sports Illustrated" magazines, which is my inspiration for this. The ads are pretty evenly scattered throughout the articles and towards the beginning and end there are a few more. In "Sports Illustrated", the ads take up about half of the magazine, and so does the flat plan for my magazine.

I am going to be interviewing Emma Hutchinson. Emma is a captain on the varsity cheerleading team at Sarasota High School. She is a senior this year and has been apart of the team for all four years. Two years on junior varsity and two and varsity.  The interview will take place on the same day as the photoshoot, this is because we will already be together. The scheduling was easy, and a few questions that I will ask include: 1. What does it mean to you, to be a Sarasota High School cheerleader? 2. What are the duties and responsibilities of being a team captain? 3. What do you enjoy most about being apart of the team? 4. How is the school influenced by the Cheerleaders? 5. Favorite sport to cheer for? Why? I will also be interviewing Coach Mav. She is the coach for the varsity cheer team at SHS. She has been apart of the program for many years and she was a alumni from Sarasota High. She was also on the cheerleading team when she was in high school and now she has taken ov...

I will be photographing Emma Hutchinson and Mary Margaret Steber. I have scheduled the photoshoot for December 14th because that is when we are both next available. I plan to go to Sarasota High School to take all of the photos because the magazine is centered around the school and its sports. It will be on the football field and also in the gymnasium. It did not take long at all to schedule. Both of the girls will be in one of the cheerleading uniforms. Some photos will be ones that i have taken previously in the season due to the fact that there are no more football game for me to take pictures at.

My group and I came up with the title to represent some of the sports that are apart of Sarasota High School. The orange and black "S" is our school colors and it is also the school symbol. This letter is also the start of two different word which we thought was a fun and creative way to format it. We wanted to title to stand out more than the rest, so we chose a font that was very bold and also easy to read. The background will not be black in the final version, instead, there will be a picture of the athlete that was interviewed or someone who plays the sport that the magazine is focused on.
